To attain true greatness, you must be determined to live a sacrificial life, to do what is not convenience for others to do, and that is the best way to be ahead in life. To some, the sacrifice to pay is to add discipline to their prayer life, to some it is to add fasting. To some, it is to sow financial seed and the likes. So Ruth decided to sacrifice all her personal ambition, family ties and;

Clave unto her. 15 And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law. 16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: {Intreat…: or, Be not against me} 17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me. 18 When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her. {was…: Heb. strengthened herself} Ruth.1:14c-18

To live a determined life is to move out of your comfort zone. The reason why many had not become better than they are, is because of laziness and love for pleasure. Ruth was determined to let go of her pleasure, comfort, value and everything to pursue the vision of making global impact. Dont forget that Ruth has a mother, relatives and probably siblings because she did not appear frustrated at any point but she let go of everything. However, she forsake all this to follow a woman who does not appear to have any hope, no wonder why she made it to Gods guiness book of record.

May be you dont know what it means for Ruth to be named among the ancestors of Jesus Christ along with great people like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon and the likes. Let me quickly remind you something about Ruth, she was a Moabites and as a Moabitess; two significant things were standing against her, the first things is that her ancestor was a product of incest,
And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters. And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth: Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father. And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.Gen.19:30 – 37.
The second thing is that they were forbidden from entering into the camp of the children of Isreal, not to talk of courting covenant with them,

3 An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever: 4 Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee. Deut.23:3-4.

But her determination changed the equation, by the time we get to the book of Matt.1:5, we saw And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;Matt.1:5

I pray for you this day, you will break record positively in your generation. God will use your life to rewrite your family history in the name of Jesus.
