"If you want God to do through you what no man can do, your Christian life must attract the attention of heaven" Olawale Ojewumi

Within the past few years, the body of Christ has faced such a great persecution and tribulations that the church has never faced in the history. The challenges has been so overwhelming that many began to doubt wheither there is still God. However, I have come to discovered that all this strange happenings are just a reflection of what our fathers in faith has actually overcome but we have not be able to subdue this threat of the devil like in their days because we don’t have sufficient number of men who are so strong enough spiritually to confront and silent the devil; “…And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that You are the LORD God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again. Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God”. 1Kings18:17-39.

This was a record of an era where idolatry, murder and corruption reigned; an era where the spirit of Jezebel was the order of the day and objection to this way of life could result in death. All Prophets that refused to compromise their faith were killed and Jezebel became the spiritual and political leader in the land. There was therefore a great spiritual and physical famine in the land because there was no one to stand in the gap for God’s people.
Suddenly, Elijah stepped into the scene and charged the atmosphere. He snatched control of the land from Jezebel and stirred the Spirit of the Almighty God into action. What a wonderful experience it was that day at Mount Carmel! He stirred God’s love in the hearts of men and women, and the people that had once been neck-deep in idolatry screamed with genuine fear of the Lord. A passion for God arose in their hearts and “…they fell on their faces and cried out to the Lord, HE is GOD;THE LORD, HE IS GOD” vs. 39b.

What a great manifestation of the Spirit of the Almighty God! What a wonderful revival! We need such a manifestation in our time. We need men that will put the spirit of Jezebel and corruption to flight. We need men that will transform the heart of our ruthless leaders. We need men that will win their continents for God.
Beloved, arise to this challenge. Let us inspire the Spirit of God to action again in our time. God stepped into the scene through Elijah because his spiritual life has encouraged God and won heaven’s attention.”… The LORD gave special strength to Elijah…”1 Kings 18:46a NLT

Whenever Elijah stood, God always paid special attention to him and made him a hero because he rightly positioned himself for the flow of the Spirit. Beloved, if you want God to do through you what no man can do, your Christian life must attract the attention of heaven and to do this, you cannot remain a nominal christian. Do not be deceived by the number of years you have spent in the church or the recommendation of men for our availability and connectivity to God is more important to Him than the intensity of our commitment to His service or our rank. God’s yardstick is different from the yardstick of men.
The one hundred and twenty people that encountered supernatural power at the upper room were extraordinary followers of Jesus Christ who did extraordinary things to attract the attention of heaven. God doesn’t commit himself to just anybody, His commitment is reserved for proven men with special traits.
Do you even have a genuine connection with the supernatural God? The witnesses of the Pentecost encountered kingdom allocation for global transformation because they were having right spiritual standing. Let’s consider the lifestyle of these men to learn how to maintain right spiritual standing;
“On the day of Pentecost, seven weeks after Jesus resurrection”
While addressing His disciples during His earthly ministry, Jesus promised that shortly, He would dwell within them as a Spirit (John 14:15-19). After His ascension; they waited, they prayed, they fasted, they consistently sought God’s approval upon their life. The same supernatural manifestation is not so common these days because of inconsistencies; in our walk with God, in our prayer lives, and in our devotion to psychological rather than spiritual approach.
These men had once had a taste of the supernatural, having once cast out demons, healed the sick and wrought a lot of creative miracles. “Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. … So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere. … And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then he took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida’: Lk 9:1-6, 10 NKJV
Unlike many of us, these men were still dissatisfied with the residual power and occasional move of the Spirit. They longed for more of God’s power, the one that would abide forever. Seven weeks after their master’s departure, they were still on fire for God. In fact, their love for God continued to grow deeper and their commitment to communing with God became stronger than ever before. These early believers did not waver in their walk with God. They were not the “burn today, cool-off tomorrow” type, or those who fluctuate in their spiritual walk, neither were they like men who blend their Christian life to suit the world system in the name of modernization. Beloved, if you desire to be one of those that God will use as a vessel for His end time move, you need to stop living an inconsistent Christian life and retrace your step to Him.( To be continued in the next edition).
